About Dr. Smith
Biography
Dr. Smith came to the Lowcountry in fall 2022 from Finger Lakes Family Care in Canandaigua, N.Y., which he founded in 2006 in part to enhance patient care through the use of innovations in e-health. Under his leadership, the practice earned the prestigious NCQA Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home status.
Previous to relocating to SC, he held the office of Chief of Outpatient Medicine at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua and was the co-founder of Updox.com. Dr. Smith is broadly experienced in the use of telemedicine, having greatly enhanced his patients’ access to care over the course of his career and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Smith brings widely ranging expertise to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in patients at BMH Palmetto Medical Group. Dr. Smith offers virtual visits for patients needing medication checks, standard chronic illness management, sick visits and follow-up care for certain conditions.
